NAACP Dir. Wash. DC Bureau – Hillary Shelton: teaching Legislative Advocacy Training at NAACP Region 6 in Shreveport, LA (The Hilton) on 3/8/2013. Discussion on Project 21 extreme right-wing blacks.

NAACP Dir Wash DC Bureau, Hillary Shelton identified “Project 21″ as a very right-wing extremist African American based organization.   He later inferred that these blacks in Project 21 (who are also in republican party) don’t make decisions in the GOP because they have weak and little representation.  They don’t have seat at the GOP table to represent a voice that reflects their values and black community.

He said that “Its all about the agenda. We don’t care what they look like”. Shelton informed the NAACP members assembled at the lecture that as NAACP has a diverse following, it also has a diverse opposition.

Shelton said that there is 1 thing that NAACP agrees with Project 21 on; and that is that NAACP want to see stronger black representation at the republican party level.  Shelton said that since he tracks representation of both parties at their conventions, he knows how many blacks were at Democrat convention and how many were at Republican convention.   He said he does this because he wants to know whose at the table making decisions.   Since the policy platform at these political conventions are voted on by the delegates, he looks to see the ethnic background of these delegates.

He noted the following:  There were 4600 delegates in democratic convention in 2012.  There were 2300 delegates to republican convention in 2012.   Now who was at the table at those convention, he asked (rhetorically).  Shelton said that he saw less than 2% of blacks at the table in republican party convention, even as the democratic convention delegation overall started off as a smaller number.   Whereas, blacks delegates at Democrat convention in 2012 represented 26%.  Blacks represents 13.4% of the American population.  Shelton pointed out that considering less than 2% of delegates at republican convention are black, one must look at the GOP platform which does not reflect blacks values nor their communities.   For instance, the GOP platform embraced stringent discriminatory voter IDs.

Ali Canada, Oklahoma NAACP PAC chairman at OK NAACP 80th Annual conference in Oklahoma City on 11/9/2012

Ali Canada, explains his work as Political Action Committee (PAC) chairman for the Oklahoma NAACP.  It involves voter registration, advocacy work for death penalty inmates and anything that is political in Oklahoma.

His most recent PAC activity for the NAACP was building coalitions and going out into communities particularly the ones of people of color, to register them to vote.  Canada said that they registered voters from the African American, Latino and Asian communities.  He went into college campuses to register students to vote as well.  Canada took it a step further by taking his voter registration drive into the swearing-in ceremonies where he registered immigrants to vote after they had been sworn in as US citizens.

He also explained the voter registration process by the organization to be bi-partisan (the NAACP works with all regardless of political affiliation).  Canada said that one of the groups the Oklahoma NAACP formed a coalition with to do the voter registration was the League of Women’s Voters.

At last count, Canada recalls Oklahoma NAACP in coalition w/other groups to have registered at least 72,000 voters for this 2012 election year.  To that astounding number, I said OH LORD ! That’s a lot!

At a prior NAACP meeting, Canada said that he had communicated to state legislators about how they had been doing things in Oklahoma has to change in order for them to get things done in the state.

Earlier, Mr. Canada presented his background as a political activist, labor union negotiator, regional organizer for MoveOn.org (Texas, Oklahoma & Arkansas) and is heavily involved in politics.  He said that he’s so political that he wakes up in the morning Political.  One of his slogans is: “You may not be thinking about politics, but politics is thinking about you”.

Dr. Reverend Ernest Johnson at NAACP Oklahoma state conference reminds NAACP members that we are in a war between good and evil; right and wrong.  Johnson said that as he comes to be with his NAACP comrades in Oklahoma, by leaving the Red state of Louisiana traveling thru the Red state of Texas to the Red state of Oklahoma, he knows that we are in a BATTLE !

He explains that: the NAACP as a house cant be divided against itself.  Be it individual branches, state conference, regional and national – the NAACP is ONE which is important for the fight to continue.  Our enemy is not within, but on the outside. We are fighters.  Its in our nature.

Dr. Reverend Ernest Johnson who is also an attorney, was the keynote speaker at the event.  He is also the president of NAACP Louisiana conference and the general counsel of the NAACP nationals.

NAACP Oklahoma City president – Garland Pruitt questions the motives of Oklahoma GOP governor for executing mentally ill Black inmate on Election day as Oklahoma GOP lawmakers have showed open racial hostility toward the Nations first black president who was being elected on the same day; and as blacks’ voting rights were being suppressed nationwide. Southern Strategy is alive & well in Oklahoma but in a bizarre form. 

• Nationwide voter suppression aimed at black & other minority communities to prevent the nation’s first black president
  from winning re-election;

• Reports of Oklahoma purging democrat voters from the voter rolls ;

• White Oklahoma republican legislators pushed for affirmative action to be abolished in the state that is
  known for its hatred for a black US President;

• Oklahoma Republicans had this affirmative action question to be placed on the ballot to be voted on in the
  presidential election knowing that a black president’s name would also be named on the same ballot;

• Racist vitriol spewed by Oklahoma GOP politicians which fueled hate rhetoric to their constituents at conventions &
  political gatherings against a black president;

AND

Then these white republicans in Oklahoma with venomous hatred for this black man in the White House  decided to show the depth of it by executing another black man on

ELECTION DAY!

Yes, they did this!  While black folks in Oklahoma were scrambling to get to the voting polls on ELECTION DAY to vote for a black man to remain as president, the state of Oklahoma was executing another black on the same day. In my opinion this was a twisted message the white republicans of Oklahoma was sending to the black people in the state.

When they say racism is skin deep disease to the bone, they aint lying, cause these white republican politicians in Oklahoma have got it bad. Real bad.  How low can they go?

By the way, the blood RED state of Oklahoma at 6:05 pm on November 6, 2012 – ELECTION DAY, executed a mentally ill black man named Garry Allen. At that same time – 6:05 pm, blacks folks were still standing in long lines at voting polls in Carter County & other Oklahoma counties trying desperately to vote for another black man to be re-elected President of the United States & that man’s name is Barack Obama.  It was reported that the last words of inmate Garry Allen at the ELECTION DAY EXECUTION was his prediction of an Obama win to the presidency.

Oklahoma GOP candidate Larry Boggs telling SE Oklahoma voters that GOP is in CONTROL. Either vote for him or GOP senate wont let us have voice about our water.

Larry Boggs, republican candidate for Oklahoma state senate tells SE Oklahoma voters that the GOP is in control & that unless we vote for a GOP senator, then the GOP controlled state senate are not gonna approve our water rights bill nor hear our voices. SE Oklahoma near McAlester area is mostly democrat.

The frightening part of all this is that the subject matter Boggs was referring to was about SE Oklahomans water rights Bill. I dont like my water being held hostage like this.

After a political candidate forum, voter – Ray Miller responded that he will vote for Democrat state senate Paul Lane instead of GOP Larry Boggs.   I was surprised to hear that Larry Boggs had got w/US senator Jim Inhofe to get his (Boggs) farm removed from the tax rolls by having his farm designated as an eagle sanctuary. Miller said that this happened in Latimer county & that it had huge impact on school in Panola, Oklahoma. Miller also added there are no eagles there near Inhofe’s farm.

Considering that Boggs farm was removed from tax roll, according to Miller, he stressed that this hurt the school & therefore Miller doubted Bogg’s sincerity that he would help the schools.

Note: Larry Boggs was the former director of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau. Jim Inhofe, a republican, who is the US senator for Oklahoma, is well known for his non-environmental friendly positions.

NAACP – Ardmore Chapter Public meeting Nov. 1, 2012. Crash course on how to vote on Affirmative Action Question & other ballot items in General Election on 11/6/2012

Nov. 1, 2012, in Ardmore Oklahoma the NAACP will be hosting a community meeting to provide information, and to answer questions about several ballot items that Oklahomans will be voting on in the general election on Tuesday – November 6, 2012. There will also be sample ballots shown at this meeting. Also several guest speakers will be present: Tom Cole, RJ Harris, Ardmore Chamber of Commerce, Pat 0wnbey, Carter County Commissioners, Donna Marie Bebo, Brian Spencer.

Ms. Liz Jenkins Williams the president of the Ardmore Chapter of NAACP said that 1 of the main focus of discussion at this meeting will be the Oklahoma SQ (state question) 759, which is an initiative to get rid of affirmative action. An Oklahoma GOP controlled legislature is unashamedly against affirmative action. BOTTOM LINE on HOW TO VOTE on this ballot initiative is to VOTE NO on SQ 759. Also the Carter county propositions 1-3 which will be on the ballot will be discussed. This is a tax issue that not everyone will benefit from.

Time & location of this meeting will be from 7pm – 9pm at the 31 Burton, Ardmore, Oklahoma (American Legion Hall 31).

Paul Lane doesn’t feel that SE Oklahoma water should be sold to Texas & OKC area as its in the interest of SE Oklahoma economic development to keep it’s water.  He added that SE Oklahoma should have a voice on how its water is to be used, and that presently SE Oklahoma has NO say in the matter .  Paul said that if elected  he would file a companion bill w/state senator Brian Renagar (D-OK  House District 17) status to make sure we have regional water boards, so that SE Oklahoman  have a voice.

Lane’s opponent who is GOP nominee Larry Boggs at this political candidate forum did not offer any solution , but he did agree w/ Lane’s solution, but that SE Oklahoma had better vote for a Republican or we in SE Oklahoma will get no water rights because the republicans are in control.

The moderator’s question posed to J. Paul Lane was:  “The possible sale of SE Oklahoma water to Texas & Oklahoma City area still remains unresolved. What is your stance on selling SE Oklahoma water to Texas & OKC area & if there is anything you can do to reinforce what you think should or should not be done regarding the matter ?”.

Rob Wallace (OK-D) for US Congress said SE Oklahomans need to send someone to capital hill who knows how to go toe-to-toe, as he has the experience in dealing w/the worst people imaginable. Wallace said that NOBODY in Washington is going to intimidate him.   He also said that the political system has been a system of hired voices, & further indicated that regular folks don’t have the bucks to hire K-street lobbyist to carry their voice.

Wallace said the system has become a set of members who only listens to hired voices.  Therefore, the only way for people in SE Oklahoma to get heard, he added, was for them to send someone from this area who will stand up to the special interest.

The moderator’s question posed to Rob Wallace was:”Gridlock is clogging up Capital Hill & with the 2 major parities often polarized to the detriment of the nation as a whole, and as a freshman US Representative what can you do to try to break down the lock jam that often occurs on capital hill?”.

His opponent is Marywayne Mullin — a republican & local plumber. The seat they both seek was held by democrat Dan Boren who is retiring & have held that seat since 2005. US Congressional district 2 of Oklahoma is the only democrat district in the entire state. Therefore, its imperative that the democrats hold on to that district, as the republicans are trying to turn the entire state Red to impair political balance. The election will be November 6, 2012.

Rob Wallace (candidate for US Congress – 2nd district Oklahoma) speaks at candidate forum about need for comprehensive water plan to create jobs.

At political forum, Rob Wallace – candidate for US congress (District 2 Oklahoma) addressed the Comprehensive Water Plan, which he adamantly feels is not comprehensive enough because it ignores the greater value of non-consumptive use. He said that while the consumptive use of the water plan is talked about, the plan ignores the non-consumptive use or its ability to create jobs.

Wallace added that this so-called Comprehensive Water Plan is a misnomer because it ignores its greatest value; and therefore it certainly is NOT comprehensive.

The moderator’s question posed to this US congressional candidate was: “Do you think the Comprehensive Water Plan adequately accounts for the value of our water?”
