Tulsa, OK GOP Discriminates Against Black Republicans – Reported to NAACP

Michael McCutchin – Tulsa GOP Chairman (via Sooner Politics)

NAACP State Oklahoma President – Anthony Douglas

NAACP Oklahoma received complaint  that Tulsa GOP is discriminating against  black republicans.   Apparently Tulsa GOP chairman – Michael McCutchin has made it difficult for black republicans to attend precinct meetings by moving the locations outside of  their area.   It is believed the intent is to alienate black republicans from becoming precinct officers and to discourage black republicans in that district from becoming  voting members at the state convention.   The NAACP letter states in part:

“According to Tulsa GOP Chairman, Michael McCutchin, any North Tulsa Precincts chosen a neighborhood location that disadvantaged citizens could walk to and feel safe & comfortably received in, would be banished from the county convention as a punishment for exercising their precinct’s will”.

Oklahoma County official criticized by Black caucus member for racial derogatory remarks

OKC County official, Larry Stein made racial remarks directed at black protesters in Ferguson, Missouri.    He called blacks animals and thugs and later used the late Rev. Martin Luther King to justify those racial remarks.  Above is screen shot of Stein’s initial remarks that he posted on facebook.    Black caucus member, Mike Shelton criticized Stein for the remarks. This news story was posted on KFOR’s news site and it’s facebook page.  Since the backlash Stein removed the derogatory facebook post; and it appears that he has privatized his twitter account as well.

Larry Stein is the Oklahoma County deputy assessor and the Communications Director for the Oklahoma GOP.  Mike Shelton  (OK-D)is also an Oklahoma State  house member.

Ali Canada, organizer for Coalition for Medicaid Expansion, explains what will happen if Oklahoma Gov Fallin continues to refuse expanding medicaid by Dec 31st

According to Ali Canada, if Mary Fallin – governor of Oklahoma does not accept Medicaid Expansion program, then all medical programs within the state that are federally funded may get cut off.  This could mean shut down of Rural hospitals in Oklahoma.  Mr. Canada added that he believes the deadline date for Governor Fallin to expand medicaid is December 31, 2013.  Canada also said that even the most conservative governor in the nation – Jan Brewer, has decided to expand medicaid.

Ali Canada is 1 of the organizers for Coalition for Medicaid Expansion.

The event was videoed  at Chadick Park on July 27, 2013 and coordinated by Coalition for Medicaid Expansion.  The group organized a Motorcade for Medicaid which toured 12 Oklahoma cities/towns in a single day.  McAlester, Oklahoma was its last stop.

GOP Sen candidate 100% GUARANTEE Oklahoma 2B SUED if Affirmative Action is abolished

Oklahoma GOP senate candidate - Barney Taylor says now is not the time for Oklahoma to outlaw affirmative action. He 100% guarantees lawsuits to follow.

Oklahoma GOP senate candidate – Barney Taylor says now is not the time for Oklahoma to outlaw affirmative action. He 100% guarantees lawsuits to follow.

Barney Scott Taylor, a GOP state senate candidate 100% guarantees that if Oklahoma outlaws affirmative action, it will be sued. He said now is not the time for Oklahoma to do away with affirmative action. He brings up the NAACP & ACLU. Taylor says we (Oklahoma) don’t need that. As Taylor considers himself a pragmatist, he pointed out that a pending affirmative action case is before the supreme court (Abigail Fisher vs. University of Texas); & that while he could not answer the question if affirmative action is working because he could not get past the pragmatic part of it. He feels that the whole affirmative action thing could be shot down by the supreme court before the people of Oklahoma can even vote on it.

His view was that it didn’t make any sense for Oklahoma to come up with its own law, while the supreme court case has similar matter still pending. He said that Oklahoma should of waited to see how the supreme court rules on it.

There is a proposed eradication of affirmation action from Oklahoma law that will on voting ballot in the general election – November 2012. It was not until later on that I had learned that a black republican named T.W. Shannon was the 1 who presented this anti-affirmative action initiative.

Barney Taylor is running for Oklahoma state senate district 9, which covers Muskogee & Wagoner county. The election is November 2012.

His opponent, Earl Garrison, a democrat is an incumbent. Garrison was not present at this forum. It was announced that Garrison could not be present due to prior engagement to attend a hall of fame induction of his friend.

This interview was videoed at the Armory center in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on October 9, 2012 after a political forum sponsored by Tahlequah chamber of commerce.
